How much is the Rénoclimat subsidy for windows and doors in 2026?
The Rénoclimat program offers $150 per existing rough opening replaced with an Energy Star certified window or exterior door.
Here’s what that means in real terms:
- Replacement of 5 windows: $750 in subsidy
- Replacement of 10 windows: $1,500 in subsidy
- Replacement of 10 windows + 2 doors: $1,800 in subsidy
- Replacement of 15 windows + 2 doors: $2,550 in subsidy
The calculation is simple: count the number of windows and exterior doors you’re replacing, then multiply by $150.
Important: a bay window made up of several panes in a single wall opening counts as one opening ($150), not for each individual pane.
What are the conditions to obtain the subsidy?
To be eligible for the Rénoclimat program, your project must meet these conditions:
Energy Star certification required
The installed windows and doors must be Energy Star certified for the Quebec climate zone. This certification guarantees that the products meet the strictest standards in terms of energy efficiency.

Complete replacement only
The program only covers the complete replacement of a window or door in an existing opening. The following work is NOT eligible:
- Replacement of the glazing alone (changing only the sealed unit)
- Replacement of the sash alone
- Replacement of the door panel alone
- The addition of a new opening (creating a window or door where there wasn’t one)
Improvement of the EnerGuide rating
The replacement of your windows and doors must result in an improvement to your home’s EnerGuide rating. This is verified by the post-work energy evaluation (see the steps below).
Eligible home
Your home must be located in Quebec, have been built before October 1, 2018 and be your principal residence. Owners of single-family homes, semi-detached homes, row houses and condos (with certain conditions) are eligible.
The 5 steps to obtain your Rénoclimat subsidy
Step 1: Request a pre-work energy evaluation
Make an appointment with an energy advisor accredited by the Rénoclimat program. This advisor comes to your home to perform a complete energy evaluation. They establish your baseline EnerGuide rating.
This evaluation costs approximately $150 + taxes depending on your region. Reimbursable when the financial assistance is paid out (excluding taxes).
Step 2: Receive your report and plan your work
The advisor gives you a report with recommendations to improve your home’s energy efficiency. Replacing windows and doors is part of the recommended work in the vast majority of cases.
This is when you request your quote from Fenexart. Our advisors help you choose the products best suited to your project and budget.
Step 3: Complete the work with a qualified contractor
Have your windows and doors replaced by a contractor holding an RBQ license. At Fenexart, our 6 branches each hold their RBQ license and our installers have the required competency cards.
Keep all your invoices: they will be necessary to obtain your subsidy.
Step 4: Request the post-work energy evaluation
Once the work is completed, make an appointment for a second energy evaluation. The advisor returns to your home to measure the improvement in your EnerGuide rating.
If the rating has improved (which is practically guaranteed with the replacement of Energy Star windows), your file is submitted for payment of the financial assistance.
In addition, Rénoclimat can also offer between $400 and $800 for airtightness work carried out during installation, such as caulking to reduce air infiltration and heat loss.
Step 5: Receive your subsidy
The cheque is sent by mail within 10 to 12 weeks after the post-work evaluation. The amount corresponds to $150 multiplied by the number of openings replaced, as verified during the evaluation.

Can Rénoclimat be combined with other subsidies?

Is the energy evaluation mandatory?
Yes. The pre-work energy evaluation is mandatory to open your Rénoclimat file. Without this evaluation, you will not be able to obtain the subsidy, even if your products are Energy Star certified. The evaluation costs approximately $150 + taxes, reimbursable when the financial assistance is paid out (excluding taxes).
Who can perform the energy evaluation?
The evaluation must be performed by an energy advisor accredited by the Rénoclimat program. Your Fenexart branch can direct you to an accredited evaluator in your region.
Are tenants eligible?
No. The Rénoclimat program is for the owners of the home. If you are a tenant, it is the owner of the building who must make the application.
